Tommy Dean Bishop passed away Saturday January 27, 2024 at his residence in Desert Haven, TX where he has lived for the last 30 years. He is survived by his wife; Becky, two daughters, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Tommy was born in Lubbock, TX to Samuel F. Bishop and Mary J. Clark ( Gilstrap). His family moved to the southwest where he attended Mayfield High School in Las Cruces NM. From there he joined the Navy and did his basic training in San Diego, CA. He served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1970. Then joined the reserves until 1973. That's when he found his love Becky and they married later on that year (they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary). From there, the couple traveled all over the southwest until Tommy decided to hit international waters. Becky and their two daughters resided in the big town of Rosebud, TX . While Tommy traveled abroad for a better future for his family. He traveled from the Gulf of Mexico to Japan and to the Middle East. He so loved the ocean. When the boom was over, Tommy went back into plastics and helped move a few companies from southern California to El Paso and then from Watertown, Wisconsin to Temple, TX. Once his daughters grew up and moved away, Tommy
entered into heavy machinery. Tommy and Becky ran all over the USA chasing jobs and working from Wyoming all the way to Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina. In fact, Tommy received an award for the Katrina job. He was the only employee who worked 7 days a week for over 6 months.
When Tommy retired, he spent it by growing tomatoes in the summertime, watching his beloved races ( including NASCAR), football ( Dallas Cowboys) and helping watch the grandkids who lived next door.
Tommy will be buried by sea in the Pacific Ocean where he truly loved it best.
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.
