Tomas Gutierrez of El Paso, TX died on Saturday, February 18th at age 56 after a long but heroic fight with cancer. He was surrounded by family & friends the last weeks of his life. He graduated from Bel-Air High School in 1978 and attended UTEP. Tomas worked as a structural steel estimator & project manager, later opening Gutierrez Lawn & Garden, the happiest time of his work life. He dedicated himself to his boys and their endeavors (baseball, marching, symphonic & jazz band competitions, performances, mariachi & martial arts). He served the band boosters for Montwood HS & Hanks HS marching bands and was a member of United El Paso Lions formerly Skyline Lions. A unique & kindhearted soul, Tomas loved his wife and boys, he was loyal fan to his Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Reds & Boston Celtics. He loved reminiscing with his friends and will be greatly missed. Tomas is survived by his wife Erminda (Mindy) Gutierrez, sons Nicholas R. Gutierrez & Michael T. Acosta, parents Roman & Victoria Gutierrez, siblings Oscar Gutierrez & Lupita Meza, and many nephews & nieces. Visitation: Thursday, February 23rd from 5-9 pm at Crestview Funeral Home 1462 N. Zaragoza with Rosary at 7pm, Funeral Mass, Friday morning, February 24th at 10 am at St. Stephens Catholic Church 1700 George Dieter Dr., gravesite service Evergreen East 12400 Montana.
