Our sunny, funny girl found the most beautiful lavender field that needed tending to. We suspect she’s somewhere wearing her favorite sun hat, linen blouse and is delighted to be surrounded by an endless amount of fragrance and beauty. To know our mother Sylvia is to know compassion, kindness, selflessness, grace and humor. From enchiladas to egg rolls, her cooking took us to all corners of the world. She had a really special way of listening to everyone who confided in her; always offering a warm smile and reassurance. She was everybody’s nurse, really. She squeezed every last bit of joy from the day, often waking up at the crack of dawn to cook breakfast, listen to music and work on her garden. A true artist at heart, she did everything with intention and with effortlessness. She will continue to be celebrated by her five “fregones hijos”, Juan, Adriana, Danny, Paul and Cynthia and four beautiful grandchildren, Abigail, Tobias, Maddie May and Charles Ryan. Her philosophy was to take life day by day; to take time to enjoy the sky, the air, the birds and the flowers. For that very reason, she was the richest person we knew. We would like to extend our eternal thanks and gratitude to Dr. Vincent Lam, Dr. Timothy Yap, Connie, Tammie, and many more whom we entrusted her care at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. You inspired hope, faith, and trust and above all, gave us two glorious years with her by our sides. For this, we will be forever indebted and blessed. May your passion, care, and effortless mission continue to #endcancer.
Catch you later, Dragonfly
