Socorro Martinez

Socorro Martinez, Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with our Lord and be reunited with her husband of 60 years, George Martinez, Sr. and her son, Richard. Mom was a lifelong resident of El Paso where as a housewife she nurtured and raised 8 children. She is survived by her children, Mike (Susan), George (Connie), Susie, Lucy, Steven (Norma), Terry, Bob (Veronica). She had 15 adoring grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Her two surviving sisters Irene Barrera and Connie Hernandez reside in Sunnyvale, California. Numerous nephews, nieces, friends, and acquaintances will miss her. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Funeraria Del Angel Martin East with 7:00 P.M. Rosary. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 11:30 A.M. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 8600 Winchester. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Her sons, grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers. Our family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to our mom’s doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and therapists for their efforts in her care and welfare. In expressing their continuing support of children, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
