Socorro Cabada, our Tia and mother to all, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, in El Paso, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on January 15, 1944, in Santa María del Oro, Durango, Mexico, Our Tia was a beloved figure whose warmth, care, love, and creativity touched the lives of everyone around her.
Tia Socorro embraced a variety of occupations throughout her life, showcasing her remarkable ability to organize, create, and help anywhere she was needed. She was a hard worker and gave her all in every position she held.
Her creativity flourished at the senior center, where she enjoyed making ceramic pieces with friends, my girls Nadia and Olivia always loved helping her.
She was known for her love of all Mexican food, especially sweets such as pan dulce from the Bowie Bakery, which she cherished.
Family was definitely the cornerstone of Tia Socorro's life. She thrived in the company of her nieces and nephews, who adored her like a mother, as well as her siblings. Tia was the matriarch of the family, the backbone that held everyone together. She was not only strong in her support for others but also embodied love in every interaction. Her spirit shone brightly during family gatherings, where she could be found dancing joyously with her loved ones and our Tio Alfonso.
Tia Socorro is survived by her loving husband, Tio Alfonso, with whom she shared a lifetime of happiness and their two furbabies, Petey and Pennita. She leaves behind her siblings: Francisca, Margarita, Lydia, and Pedro, who will forever cherish the memories of her unwavering support and affection, as well as numerous nieces and nephews (too many to count). She is now reunited with her siblings Guadalupe, Roberto, Jesus, Alejandro, and her parents Eugenio and Maria in heaven.
Our Tia's legacy of love, family, and strength will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She truly was home to us all. We will never forget you Tia Socorro.
