Samuel Jorge Mendoza, 61, peacefully passed away on July 12, 2014 at his home in Santa Teresa, NM. He was born in El Paso, Texas to Santos and Esperanza Mendoza. He retired from Northrop Grumman as a mechanic technician and supported many satellite launches as a fuel crew member. He lived the majority of his life in Southern California. He was honorably discharged as a SGT in the U.S. Army from the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC. This is when Sam found his love for sky diving. He married Gloria Morales “Goya” in 1972 and they had three beautiful daughters: Loraine, Natalie, Rebekah. Loraine Mendoza, grandsons Daniel, Nick and Andrew; Natalie Mendoza-Spalloni (Marco), grandsons Carlo and Gabriel; Rebekah Mendoza-Molina (Marcos) grandchildren, Liannah and Elijah. Survived by siblings: Ruben Mendoza, nephew Christopher and niece Ashley; Arlene Acuna, nephew Christopher; Belinda Acuna, nephew Joshua; Aunts Rosalie and Mary, Uncles Gene and Johnny. Sam leaves behind his cherished in-laws Alfonso and Griselda Morales. Sammy never went to a place where he did not make a friend. He is described as generous, loved animals and joking around, and would give anyone the shirt off his back.
Visitation will be Friday, July 25, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Martin Funeral Home West. Memorial Mass will be Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:00am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West. www.MartinFuneralHomeWest.com
