He was born to Salvador and Mary Esther on October 8, 1946 in El Paso. In 1963, he was awarded the Eagle Scout Rank from the Boy Scouts of America. In 1966, he graduated from Bel Air High School and drafted into the US Army. He served a tour in Vietnam and detailed to the riots of MLK and Robert Kennedy’s assassination. He graduated from UTEP with a Bachelor of Business Administration Minor in Marketing in 1976. He retired in 2010 after 34 years in the Transportation Industry. Post retirement, he worked part-time for BSA Yucca Council, Unidos Prosperamos Program. Throughout the years, he volunteered his time coaching softball, mentoring Boy Scouts, and serving his catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cecilia Irene; three daughters Yvette (Rick) DeLeon, Celeste (John) Rodriguez, and Bernadette Montoya. Five Grandchildren: Aja, Rhiannon, Joshua, Desiree, Juliana, and seven Great-Grandchildren. His siblings, Daniel (Sandra) Montoya, Laura Aranda, and nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Monday, November 19 from 5 to 9pm with Rosary at 7pm; Mass on Tuesday, November 20 at 11:30am all services will be at St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, 12200 Vista Del Sol, El Paso, TX. Burial to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to BSA Yucca Council or SmileTrain.
