Ruben Rangel

Ruben "Rocky" Rangel, Sr., 62, passed away November 25th, 2020 after a long and tough battle with COVID-19. Ruben heard the last bell at 12:34 am, leaving peacefully and with the heart of a champion, as he proceeded on his stairway to heaven.

A lifelong resident of El Paso, Ruben was blessed to meet the love of his life, Norma, at age 20. He grew to find his life's calling in his family, serving as a proud and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.

He was also a skilled renaissance man, practicing his trades as a mechanic, CNA and security guard, gently guiding and leading in his passion to always "better oneself".

He was a diligent, patient and dedicated man who never met a stranger, who loved the power of laughter, and had wisdom in spades that he was always willing to share. Ruben loved helping our community. He was an avid fundraiser for causes he believed in; the American Cancer Society, the Relay for Life, Making Strides and the El Paso Humane Society. He was also a strong and loving friend and supporter of the El Paso LGBTQ community. He taught us to remain humble and do all things with a kind heart. We all had a special bond with him. He will be forever celebrated and truly missed.

Ruben is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Norma Juanita Rangel, daughter Ruby Jean Pimentel (Porfirio), Son Ruben Rangel Jr.(Omar), Son Roman Angel Rangel (Frankie), grandchildren Geovannie, Logan (Stephanie), Elijah, Porfirio III, Esmeralda and great grandchild, Marlene; Sisters Susana Flores and Beatriz Guzman (Jerry), Uncles, Aunts, nieces, nephews & cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; Mother Rosa Sandoval and Father Apolonio Renteria. Services will be held on Monday, at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 N Zaragoza Road, El Paso, Texas from 8:00-10:30am. The internment with immediate family will be following the services at Fort Bliss Cemetery. Due to the current pandemic, it is understandable that friends and family might be unable to attend.
