Ruben Meza Carrasco
April 29, 1932 - December 6, 2020
RUBEN MEZA CARRASCO, 88, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather,
passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020. “Gordito” and “Pancho” as he was
lovingly referred to by his family was predeceased by his wife, Maria Del Refugio
Carrasco; his children, Anna Lopez and Carlos Ruben Carrasco; and his
grandchildren, Sergio Torres and Amanda Carrasco. Born and raised in Meoqui,
Chihuahua, Mexico, Dad moved to the United States and became a U.S. citizen to
earn a living and raise his family. Our dad was a hard working man who instilled a
hard working ethic and discipline onto his children and grandchildren. After our
mom passed away at an early age, Dad raised his remaining minor children at home
by himself. He took the time and patience to teach all of us how to “do-it-yourself.”
Dad was witty and a jokester who loved to dance and listen to big band music on his
turntable on Sunday mornings. When asked how he was doing, his response was
almost always, “Como San Eleno, cada día mas bueno.” He enjoyed watching the
Houston Astros and the Dallas Cowboys, and he loved to eat, especially enchiladas,
tamales, hamburgers, and esponjas. Still nothing was more endearing to him or
brought him more joy than the company of his family and the sound of their laughter.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Elva Torres, Mario Carrasco, Sandra
Carrasco, Javier Carrasco, Nancy Abouri, and Rocio (Rosi) Carrasco; his
grandchildren: Mark Torres, Dianne Medina, Melina Montoya, Araceli Villagrana,
Mario Alberto Carrasco, Victoria Otero, and Andrew Carrasco; his children and
grandchildren’s spouses; his great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. Our
heartfelt gratitude to our sister, Sandra, who unselfishly gave and lovingly cared for
our dad for many years, and to Maria Ponce, RN of Bienvivir for her unwavering care
and compassion.
