Betty, our deepest condolences to you and the kids. Ruben coached Ethan on the Lakers for several years and taught him so much. He was a good man, kind and patient. He always had a calm and pleasant demeanor. We will never forget him. We ran into him about 3 or 4 years ago and he had such positive and encouraging words for Ethan. I will never forget Ruben. He was so nice to me and was always  very helpful. I always loved to talk to Ruben about the Oakland Raiders and Jefferson High School. He had a great smile. We will miss him dearly.

I met Ruben through my brother Alfred (Flecha) and he was instantly likable. He was very knowledgeable about sports and rock music. We talked about music and at times we disagreed on which rock groups were good, but we ultimately agreed that rock music was great regardless of who played it. 

He once came over to my house to lend me two albums by 'Legs Diamond'. I never asked him to lend them to me, but there he was, handing me the albums. That's just the kind of guy he was. A great person.

I was shocked to learn of Ruben's passing and he will be missed greatly. 

RIP Ruben (Nanos). Very few people come into this world as good as you were to your friends and family.
