Rose Esther Salcido of El Paso, Texas died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the age of 92. Rose was born in El Paso where she was a proud El Paso High Tiger and she retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after 32 years of service. In her retirement she helped care for her grandchildren, worked with her husband in their pecan orchard, and read thousands of books.
Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ruben Salcido, father Inez Gonzalez, mother Esther Medina, stepfather Jorge Medina, son-in-law Michael Holt, daughter-in-law Mary Lou Salcido, three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her son Ruben Salcido; her daughters Camille Calderón (Edmundo), Valerie Burch (Peter), and Andrea Holt; and her brother Carl Rodriguez. She leaves behind 5 adored grandchildren, Travis Johnson, Jason Holt, Alyssa Holt, Tyler Burch, and Amanda Morales (Nick); two great-granddaughters Maddy and Emmy; and many extended family members and friends. Rose will be missed most for her lively sense of humor, tender heart, and beautiful laugh.
A Rosary for Rose will be held Friday, April 26, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10000 Pheasant Rd, El Paso, Texas 79924, with Funeral Mass at 1:15 PM. Committal Service will follow at 2:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79906.
