It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother Rosario Martinez. Her passing was peaceful on Wednesday July 10, 2024 at the age of 82.
She was born in Victor Rosales, Zacatecas on September 30, 1941. She attended Cobre High School in Bayard NM and obtained her GED at El Paso Community College. She worked for Project Bravo as a case worker for 5 years and was a Vista volunteer. She was a community activist and served as the PTA president for South Loop Elementary for 3 years.
Our mother is preceded in death by her loving husband Guadalupe Martinez, her parents Francisca and Celestino Moreno, her brother Enrique Moreno, her daughter-in-law Norma Martinez, and Son-in-law Santiago “Sonny” Najera.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters Marylou Moreno, Gloria Dennison, Mike Moreno (Mary Ellen), Patsy Crow, Rosemary Moreno, Joe L. Moreno (Lisa) and Alex Moreno. Her children Leticia Najera, Alicia Martinez (Dave), David Martinez Sr., Alejandro Martinez (Michelle). Her grandchildren Joey J. Najera (Nora), Michael A. Najera (Gabby), Deyanida N. Najera (Dillon), Nikolas D. Najera, Arista O. Najera, Zaniah A. Najera, Jessica D. Martinez, Daniel "Danny" Fresquez (Claudia), Estrella Gonzales (Ryan), Nicholas Fresquez, Jessica M. Martinez, David Martinez Jr., Christopher Araiza (Marcela) Alyssa C. Martinez, Caleb A. Martinez. Her Great Grandchildren Alyssandra and Leana “Nayeli” Villanueva, Leah (Jesse), Amber, Crystal, Freddy and Joey Jr. Najera, Brittney Malave, Jazmine, Jocelyn and Hugo Tinoco Jr., Anna and Tristan Gonzales, Evelynn Fresquez, Ryan Jr. and Aubree Gonzales and eight Great, Great Grandchildren with countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will take place at Evergreen East Funeral Home at 12400 Montana. The viewing will be Friday July 19, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm, Rosary to start at 6 pm. Chapel Service will be on Saturday July 20, 2024 starting at 9am and to follow the burial at 11am.
Serving as pallbearers are: David Martinez, Sr., Daniel Fresquez, Mike Moreno, Joe Moreno, Christopher Araiza, and Nicholas Fresquez.
Honorary pallbearers are: David Martinez, Jr., Alejandro Martinez, Caleb Martinez, Michael Najara, and Nikolas Najera.
