Romualdo “Ron” Martinez passed away at his home on August 30, 2023, at the age of 62 after losing his battle to liver cancer. Born on February 7, 1961 Ron and his siblings were raised in Texico, New Mexico by mother Catalina Garcia de Martinez and father Guadalupe Martinez.
Upon graduating from Texico High School at the age of 17 Ron left his hometown for El Paso, Texas to join the National Guard completing 2 years of service. He then became a Security Officer for Providence Memorial Hospital where he completed 20 years of service. His drive and outstanding ambition enabled him to become Director of Security with Del Sol Medical Center for 10 years. He then began a career in public service becoming a Deputy Constable for the County of El Paso, Precinct 1 where May of this year, he completed 15 years of service.
Ron took extreme pride as a law enforcement officer and did everything to serve his community. He will be remembered by his family, friends, supervisors and fellow peers as a bright and kind individual with a respectful demeanor.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jose Maria Martinez.
Left to treasure his memory is his loving wife Gloria Gilda Franco whom he married in 1988. Ron and Gloria were happily married having celebrated their 35 year anniversary in June. They shared 2 sons, Pablo Rafael and Daniel Esteban Martinez. Ron was also a loving grandfather of 3 boys, Daniel Sebastian Martinez, and Freddy and Jayden Delgado. He is also survived by his siblings, Teresa, Anselmo, Emilia, David, Jesus, Josefina Martinez and Ysidra Sifuentes.
The public is welcome to attend a Memorial Visitation Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m. at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 N Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas 79936.
Honors will be rendered by various law enforcement agencies upon the conclusion of all services.
