Romelia spent over 30 years living in Mexico, between Chihuahua and Cuidad Juarez, before making El Paso her home. She remained in El Paso the rest of her life. Romelia was a devoted and hardworking woman who made her mark through years of service with the Ysleta Independent School District. She took great pride in her work, finding joy in providing for others.
Romelia had a deep love for music and spent her days singing and dancing, even in her final moments. She enjoyed the excitement of trips to the casino and loved visiting the salon to have her hair and nails done. Despite the demands of her job, she was a devoted mother who selflessly dedicated her life to caring for Guera.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, María de Lourdes Rodriguez de Macias and Jesús Macías García. She is survived by her loving siblings, Carmen Morayma Macias Rodriguez and Roberto Macias; her cherished daughters, María de Lourdes Barraza and Elizabeth (Guera) Martínez; her beloved son, Roberto Martínez; her treasured granddaughters, Flor Barraza, Cynthia Barraza Guerra (Rogelio), Sol Martínez, and Itzel Areli Martínez (Sebastián); her four great-grandsons, Christopher Michael García (Isabella), Adrian Alejandro Mendoza (Cristina), Gael Roberto Mendoza, and Santiago Iñaki Mendoza, who were the lights of her life, and she adored them dearly.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a vigil at 7:00 p.m., at 1462 North Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79936. A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will take place on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 12:00 noon at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, located at 12200 Vista del Sol Drive, El Paso, TX 79936.
