Rodrigo was born on a small farm just outside of Delicias Chihuahua on September 2, 1943. To Teodoro and Aurora Ortiz. He moved to El Paso in the early sixties where he met and married his wife of 56 years, Elia Alicia Ortiz. He was a very hard worker. He worked several different jobs including ditch digging for plumbers, to picking chili and sheet metal work. While learning to do Sheetmetal work he worked for two different companies. He worked during the day with one company and fabricated duct work for another company at night. In 1970 he eventually started his own business, Popular Heating and Cooling. Not knowing too much English and not knowing the laws here in the US he was still able to grow his business and do very well for himself and his family. He was a very smart, tenacious and some
may say a stubborn man but he did things his way and his way only. There was no other way we wanted him to be. We will all miss him very much and we know that he will be with us always. We lost him on October 28, 2022. He is survived by his wife Elia Alicia Ortiz, his four sons Javier, Carlos, Alberto, and Rodrigo Jr., twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren, his siblings, Carmen Estela Martinez, Jaime Ortiz, Alvaro Ortiz, Theodoro Ortiz, and Humberto Ortiz. Our family would like to thank all of those that have called and sent messages to us. We really appreciate the outpour of love and affection that all of you have shown toward our father and mother. We would like to thank his doctors for all that they did for him Dr. Michael Gutierrez, Dr. Perry Wolfe, Dr. Diane DeWitt, and Dr. Charmaine Martin.
