On November 19th, 2020, our superhero, Roberto “Bobby” Tapia Durán passed in his home at the age of 75. He was born in Ysleta where he “hung his hat” his entire life. Dad was a “Bee-you-tee-ful”, genuine man with a servant’s heart. He loved nature, liked fixing “shhtuff,” cooking “dee-li-cious” meals, inventing nicknames for his loved ones, and filling his brain with knowledge. Dad had an infectious laugh, quick wit, relentless inner strength, and had dichos for every life situation.
Family was his greatest pride and joy. Dad shared 45 years with his “Chugar lips” Maria “Sukie” Casillas, they would often be found sitting outside drinking cervezas and “hechando mentiras”. His legacy lives on in his children Eduardo, Noemi, Patsy, Roberto II, Rubina, Cynthia, and stepdaughter Lori; his 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Our loss is shared with his siblings Francis, Felipe, and Ramon, and the family and friends influenced by this amazing man.
Dad will be laid to rest at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. As Dad would say, "I’m home like a sailor, home from the sea, I'm home safe and sound, now I gotta pee".
