Robert W. Smiley passed away peacefully on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the age of 79 in El Paso, Texas. Robert was born on December 14, 1938 in San Francisco; son of Bruce Smiley and Bonnie Tapalansky. Robert graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1963. Robert served as an officer in the Army from 1963 to 1966. Robert retired from the El Paso Gas Company in 1980. Robert is survived by his wife, Hildegard Smiley, his son Robert J. Smiley and daughter Madelin Akins. Robert was a loving and devoted husband and father. Visitation will be Friday, July 27, 2018 from 11 am to 12:30 pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5054 Doniphan Dr., El Paso, TX 79932. Graveside service to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 1:30 pm on Friday, July 27, 2018. Funeral arrangement's entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home - West.
