Robert N. Hernandez passed in peace at his home Tues., Sept. 17, 2013 at the age of 87. He is survived by his loving wife, Juana Socorro and preceded in death by his parents, Victoria Alarcon and Rodrigo Hernandez and son Rene Hernandez. Robert, born Aug. 13, 1926 was a native El Pasoan who joined the U.S. Army upon graduation from Cathedral High School in 1945. He served in the Korean War and made a career of his military service. His enlistment allowed him to cultivate his fondness for travel. Robert, affectionately referred to as Tio Bob, will dotingly be remembered as a loving husband and uncle, proud patriot, athlete, world traveler, and everyone’s favorite dance partner at the Grandview Hall. His affinity towards living life to the fullest never waned. His 2010 cherry-red Mustang purchased at the age of 83, accompanied by his trip to Las Vegas at the start of this year, is testament to his youthful exuberance. His legacy is the continued celebration of life, the power of hard work, and the value to be found in family and friends. His wife sends her thanks to his loved ones and Choice Hospice.
Visitation is Tues. Sept 24, between 5 and 9 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Central with a 7 p.m. Rosary. Mass is to be held at Our Lady of Assumption Wed. Sept. 25 at 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Ft. Bliss Cemetery.
