ROBERT JOSEPH HERNANDEZ passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the age of 26. Robert was an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force and served in the 86th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. He contributed to a number of vital missions for his squadron. Most recently, he helped generate aircraft in support of Operation BAYONET RESOLVE, his actions contributed to his squadron in generating 20 missions and dropping 1,300 jumpers in support of Army training before they deployed to Afghanistan. He also was an avid volunteer at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in assisting our Wounded Warriors and their families. Robert set himself apart from his peers and helped set the high standards in his squadron when he was selected as the Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and Maintenance Group Airman of the Quarter for April to June 2012. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Cristina Hernandez. He is survived by his wife Jacklyn O. Hernandez, parents; Delma and Roberto Hernandez, his brother and sister Eric and Sarah Hernandez, maternal grandparents; Evangelina and Jesus Archuleta and paternal grandfather Sergio Hernandez. A Vigil Service will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 7:00PM at Martin Funeral Home West. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 1:00PM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 900 W. Missouri Ave. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 2:30PM, with Full Air Force Honors. Pallbearers will be: Max Christopher, Johnathan Davila, Pepe Perez, Chilam Balam, Adrian Rivera, Nabil Alomari, Jerry Archuleta and Isacc Moreno.
