Dick was born December 13, 1943, in El Paso, TX to Richard George Spitzer JR and Phyllis (Ball) Spitzer. He was a graduate of El Paso High School and UTEP (1969). Dick married his sweetheart, Linda Sue Perkins, in 1967. They were married for 55 years and had one son, Steve, in 1971. Dick worked for 29 years as a special agent for several federal agencies, with the majority of his professional career spent as a special agent/pilot for the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Dick spent his career flying across the world, spending much of this time in Central and South America and the Caribbean. He was involved in many significant narcotics trafficking investigations.
Dick was an outdoorsman through and through. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his son, grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his wife Linda Sue, son Steve, daughter-in-law Tabitha, and seven grandchildren: Abby, Mary, Kate, Lydia, Naomi, Joanna, and Kolbe. He is also survived by beloved cousins Greg and Jay Martin and his three half-sisters Diana McKenna, Nanci Spitzer, and Janet Spitzer.
Dick’s funeral services will be held Monday, April 24, 10 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1551 Belvidere St, El Paso, TX. The funeral service will be followed by a burial at 11:30 at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 4900 McNutt Rd, Santa Teresa, NM.
