Richard Aguirre (72) passed away on September 16, 2015. Richard was born in El Paso on July 8, 1943. He attended Austin High School, a graduate of the Class of 1962. Richard was drafted and served in the US Army in 1962-63, a veteran of the Vietnam War. An accomplished pianist, Richard entertained El Paso and surrounding areas during the 1960’s and 1970’s as a member of the rock/dance/sock-hop band “Ray Carreon & The Valiants”. Richard married his biggest fan, beautiful Rosa Angelica Rivas, on February 4, 1967. The couple raised two handsome sons, Richard Michael and Robert Brian. Richard devoted many years to his work at Popular Dry Goods, in sales and later in management. He was a very sharp dresser, thus a stunning example to his customers in the menswear department. After The Popular closed it’s doors, Richard proudly provided day-care for his first grandson, and later worked at Walmart, until retirement. Richard is preceded in death by his parents Elvira Valles and Julian Aguirre. He is survived by his devoted wife Rosie Aguirre; two sons Richard and Robert; four grandsons Christopher, Nickolas, Brian, and Sean. He is also survived by his siblings Guillermo Aguirre, Raul Aguirre, Lucy Thummel, and Elizabeth Paz. Pall Bearers will be: Richard M. Aguirre (son), Robert Aguirre (son), Christopher Aguirre (grandson), Nickolas Aguirre (grandson), Joseph Ureno (nephew), Carlos Aguirre (family/friend), Carlo Rivas (nephew), Mario Cacho (friend/neighbor). Visitation will be held on Sunday September 20, 5-9pm (Rosary at 7pm), at Hillcrest Funeral Home (1060 N. Carolina Dr.) Mass will be held on Monday September 21 at 12:15pm, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church (8011 Williamette Ave.) Burial to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
