Ricardo “Richie” Rivera, 82, joined our Lord and Savior on May 5, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on May 21, 1940, in El Paso, Texas. Richie was a devoted Catholic. He proudly graduated from Jefferson H.S. and UTEP. He served in the U. S. Air Force and worked at Safeway and ASARCO.
Ricardo is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Maria J. Rivera, and his pride and joy, his children: Virginia Barraza (Rick), Rosanna R. Alvarado (Michael), Sandra Gonzalez (Ruben), and Ricardo Rivera, Jr. (Lorena). He had 10 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and 3 great grandsons on the way. His surviving siblings are brothers Sabas, Arturo, and Santos and his sister Yolanda. Richie is also survived by beloved extended family, friends, and golf buddies.
Visitation will be from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. with the Vigil/Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 1315 Travis. The Funeral Mass will be on May 12th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Committal Service at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Evergreen East Funeral Home.
