Richard, a lifelong resident of El Paso, was born in October 1942 to Fidencio and Guadalupe Favila.
A graduate of Ysleta High School and later Texas Western University (UT-El Paso), Richard was a professional civil engineer who retired from the El Paso Natural Gas Co.
In August 1969, he married the love of his life, Judy, and they remained happily married for nearly 50 years before Judy passed away in 2016.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Irma Favila.
He is survived by his two children, David (Ann) Favila of Harlingen and Ana Favila (Eric Sanchez) of Dallas; his two grandchildren, Maisie and Austin Favila; his younger sister, Dolores Montoya (Jose) of Denton, his nieces, Christina Montoya and Rebecca Serna, and numerous cousins.
Rick, as many knew him, was a kind-hearted man who loved his family, watching TV and movies, music, a good meal, and, on occasion, a nice nap - often while watching TV. “Multitasking,” he would call it. He also spent much of his time in search of the “perfect tamale.” The quest continues in heaven.
Richard will be sorely missed, but through his family, friends and loved ones, his legacy will forever remain.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Friday, March 1, at St. Raphael Catholic Church – 2301 Zanzibar Road, El Paso, Texas.
Flowers may be sent in care of Hillcrest Funeral Home – 1060 N. Carolina Drive, El Paso, Texas, 79915.
