Reva L. Díaz

Reva L. Díaz passed away peacefully on Sunday May 3, 2015 in the presence of her family. Born September 12, 1922, Mrs. Díaz was a lifelong resident of El Paso. She is preceded in death by her parents, Santos G. and Julia L. Lizárraga, siblings, Servando and Guillermo R. Lizárraga and Lygia Gleichauf and her devoted husband of sixty-three years, Rene Díaz.

She was an active member of her community serving as an officer with the Pan American Round Table, the St. Patrick’s Altar Society, Las Madrinas at the El Paso Playhouse and various other community organizations. She enjoyed the company of life-long friends; was an avid golfer and member of the El Paso Country Club’s Women Golfing Association; and was a world traveler, enjoying vacations across the United States and abroad with her husband. She also enjoyed playing canasta and bridge and spent countless hours gardening.

She will be remembered by her children, R. Leticia Díaz Ríos, Georgina C. Díaz Autrey (Vern), Federico R. Díaz (Karen) and Jaime E. Díaz (Adrien); her grandchildren, Joel Blizzard, Andria Blizzard-Nichols (Michael), Ian Blizzard, Marisa Ríos-Freyberger (Brent); Julia and Jacqueline Díaz; and her great grandchildren, Sean, Ryan and Zachary Kruk, and, Sammy and Zoë Nichols.

The family wishes to extend its deepest appreciation for the loving care their mother received from the staff at both the Monte Vista Skilled Nursing Facility and Hospice El Paso’s Compassionate Care Center.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday May 18, 5:00 to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home West at 128 Resler Dr., El Paso, TX 79912. Funeral Mass will be held on May 19 at 9:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Cathedral at 1118 North Mesa St. with burial to follow at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery. A reception celebrating Reva’s life will begin at 12:30 PM after the burial at 3840 Hillcrest Dr., El Paso, TX 79902.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to Hospice El Paso, 1440 Miracle Way, El Paso, TX 79925.
