Rena Patricia "Pat" Haro gained her Angel wings on February 2, 2023. She was born to Joseph O’Leal and Rena O’Leal in El Paso, Texas on March 17, 1937, and had three siblings, Richard predeceased), Hector (predeceased) and Darlene. She attended Jefferson High School, where she met her future husband, Gilbert Haro Jr. They both graduated in 1956. Patricia reigned as Football Queen with her football player escort Gilbert. She also won other local pageants with her classic beauty and kind heart in the mid 1950’s. Soft spoken and lighthearted, everyone knew Patricia as a beautiful, generous soul. She and her husband Gilbert were married on January 30, 1960, in El Paso, TX for 63 loving years. Family was extremely valuable to them, and they welcomed to the world 4 children, Suzette, Ginette (predeceased), Richard and Bill.
With her selfless and loving nature, Patricia became a teacher’s aide for special needs children at Cielo Vista Elementary School and Bonham Elementary School. She also volunteered at her church’s Sunday School. Patricia and Gilbert shared their precious time creating everlasting memories together. Patricia had 8 grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Patricia showed them the true beauty of this life through her love. She was blessed with 3 great grandchildren that she loved with all her heart. Patricia truly was an Angel walking this Earth and engraved love and compassion on her family’s hearts. We will always think of her with joy because of the light she brought into our lives.
Rena Patricia Haro is survived by her husband Gilbert Haro Jr., children, Suzette Avalos, Richard Haro (Belinda), Bill Haro, sister, Darlene Buch and sister-in-law Irma O’Leal, grandchildren, Rachel Gunstream (Jesse IV), Daniel Avalos, Johnny Ray Haro, Anthony Haro, Elizabeth Avalos, Joseph Haro, Alyssa Haro and Ginette Haro, great grandchildren, Jesse Gunstream V., Lily Gunstream and Mia DeLeon and numerous nieces and nephews. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
Family, friends and other whose lives Patricia touched are invited in remembrance of her on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, El Paso, TX 79903 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a vigil at 6:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Friday, February 17, 2023, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 North Clark Drive, El Paso, TX 79905, at 9:30 a.m. with interment to follow in Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana Avenue, El Paso, TX 79938.
