Went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2017 at the age of 83. An honorable husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, Mr. Viescas was a native El Pasoan. Born May 12, 1934 to parents Eduardo Lebario Viescas & Carmen Valdiviezo Viescas. He was a graduate of Ysleta High School and was offered a full ride scholarship for Baseball but declined it at his parents request to help with family obligations. Mr. Viescas was retired from his truck driving career and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union.
Mr. Viescas is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lorenza Lara Viescas; his son, Raul Viescas Jr.; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Stroh Viescas; granddaughter, Wagner Bryann Litton. Mr. Viescas was honored to have legal guardianship of nieces & nephews, who he considered as his own children: Betty Vigil (Joe); Armando Lara jr. deceased; Jimmy Lara; Patricia Pasley (Bob); Yvonne Luna (Robert); Larry Lara (Mari); Mary Helen Singleton (Gary) and a multitude of family members, loved ones and friends. Pallbearers: Raul Viescas Jr., Rocky Galarza, Ruben Viescas, Ben Viescas, Jen Borrego and Carlos Gandarilla.
Visitation 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. & Rosary 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 30, 2017 at Hillcrest – 1060 N. Carolina Dr.
Funeral Mass 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral – 1118 N. Mesa (corner of Mesa & Arizona).
