Raquel M. Pérez, legendary woman and incredible inspiration to her family and friends, passed away on Monday, 9 January. Born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico 28 December,1937 to Miguel and Consuelo Molina, the family moved to El Paso in 1954.
A quiet trailblazer, Raquel pushed her daughters and grandchildren to live life according to their joy, supporting unconventional paths, and to follow their dreams -- all of this, for a woman born in a world of convention and tradition. She stepped into her own avant-garde era when she became a licensed real estate broker, working alongside her husband, Alfonso Pérez at Pérez & Company. Including her work as a mother and broker, she served on the Central Appraisal District’s Review Board, and was an active participant in LULAC, Toastmasters, and mentored contestants for Guy/Rex USA.
A faithful Catholic, we will remember Raquel for teaching us all what style, class, and building a legacy looks like. She was a sharp mind who loved to play cards, read, travel, and made sure those around her embraced the lighter side of life.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Miguel Molina and Rene Molina and is survived by her partner in crime, her sister Consuelo Forti, brother Hector (Paco) Molina, daughters Alida Pérez Hernandez (+Robert), Diana M. Pérez (+Jim), Monica Martell (+Joe), Nydia Correa (+Roland), her ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and multitudes of nieces, nephews, and cousins. We will miss her dearly but rejoice that she is resting now in the presence of our Almighty King!
