"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than then thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love".
-Washington Irving
Ramona Flores Lopez, earned her wings to be with our Lord on June 13, 2021, in her home in Duncanville, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the widow of Gilberto Lopez Talamantes.
Born in Chavira, Chihuahua, municipality of Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico, she was the daughter of Antonio Flores Cano and Isabel Vasquez Urueta de Flores. She received her education in Santa Rosalia de Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico moved to El Paso, Texas in the early 50's, returning to the area of her father's birthplace in Smeltertown, Texas.
She was the matriarch of the Lopez family and was a loving and compassionate soul, who never met a stranger. Quick to offer help to those in need, but also a stern disciplinarian who would not hesitate to correct you when you were headed on the wrong path. Whether it was by her straight forward directives or humorous analogies to give you a glimpse of errant ways. Ramona had a natural artistic ability, was self-taught, in her home decorative crafts, that turned her hobby into a home business, while taking care of the family and managing the families’ rental properties. Ramona loved her church community and was constantly seeking souls to guide them to know our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Ramona is preceded in death by her son Gilbert Jr and beautiful daughter Margarita. Ramona is survived by her three sons, Willie (Teresa), Hugo (Yolanda), Jaime Lopez (Katy), grandchildren, Willie J (Whitney), Hugo (Veronica), Jennifer, Jessica, Eric, Joshua, Anthony, Nathanial and Joseph. Her great grandchildren Angelique and Arabella.
