Phillip C. Bowen, Attorney, passed away on January 26, 2024, with his family by his side. Phil was a partner in (Travis) Johnson and Bowen Law firm for many years before entering private practice. He was an excellent attorney and a wonderful friend to all who knew him. Throughout his legal career, he often took cases pro bono for those who needed legal help and could not afford to pay. Phil had a wonderful sense of humor and a most generous heart. He was an avid basketball fan, rooted for the Miners, and played with the ‘Antiques’ team until his 70’s. As everyone who ever knew him says about him, “The nicest guy I ever knew.” Phil was born in Dallas, TX, on August 20, 1945, to Henry and Katherine Bowen. He moved to El Paso as a young boy and attended Ysleta High School, Texas Western College, and the University of Houston Law School where he made Law Review. He is survived by his brother, Drew Bowen, daughters, Brooke Bowen, Brittney Heincy (Nick), Bridget Diaz (Adam), and grandchildren, Drue Dalby, Cole Heincy, Kaylee, and Dylan Diaz, as well as his niece, Gayle Carroll Collier, and nephews, Kevin and Kenny Carroll. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wayne, and sister, Sherron Carroll. He is going to be sorely missed by his family and numerous friends who loved him so much, especially by his best buddy, Bill Armstrong. Special thanks to Envision Hospice Care and Blanca Breceda, his caregiver, an angel in disguise. In lieu of flowers, live your life in joy and generosity as Phil lived his.
