Phil Sanchez passed away peacefully at his home June 3rd, 2020. He was surrounded by his fur babies K-Zee, Gyspy, Annie, and family by his side. He always said when I die I want lots of pomp, laughter, great New Orlean style music, and lots of umbrellas at my funeral. He was preceded in death by his Father Max, his son Phillip, and his Mother Irma. He is survived by his wife and caregiver of 57 years Lupe, his brother David (Madaline), his son Michael (Lourdes), Daughter Rosemary (Capt. John/Army in Daegu, South Korea), his grandsons who he always were so proud of Max (Kat), Phillip (Kelly), and Nick. Phil served honorably USAF, and if you had the time he always had a great story to tell you about his time and travels in the Far East. Phil and his wife Lupe always found time to volunteer at American Cancer Society, both being cancer survivors. Phil was always the first to speak about why it was important to get check ups regularly. He was invited many times to speak on TV, radio, and at different functions. If you were lucky you got to hear directly from a survivor on first hand what to expect and what you needed to do because their motto was “ you’re a survivor, not a statistic.” He always asked if everyone was okay and worried about what was happening to our world as it is now and what the future holds for his grandchildren and great granddaughter (Max and Kat) she is due this October. The Sanchez family would like to thank Dr. Min, Dr. Wong, Dr. Armendariz, Dr. Hawksworth, and Dr. Spier, Emergency room Doctors that treated him. We also give thanks to the nurses he knew on his many visits and times he volunteered at Sierra Medical. He would say they should name a wing after me, the nurses would say “here again, you missed us?”
A special Thanks to Shrimps(Elena) and Joe Rodriguez, Phil's favorite "in-laws" for always being there with Lupe in Person. Frank and Wayne his Favorite "in-laws" in Spirit from Palm Springs California all were there for Phil the many times he was in the Hospital.
Our family would like to acknowledge Lupe, his wife that was always at his side through sickness and in health. Services are entrusted to Martin Funeral home on George Dieter. A celebration of life will be Saturday June 13th at 11:00am. Bring your BEADS and BOAS its going to be a Real Celebration of Life. Your presence would be appreciated while social distancing will be observed, PLEASE wear a mask. Phil would say “this pandemic can be beat if we all do our part.” Phil will be interred at Ft Bliss National Cemetery.
