Petra F. Chavez

Petra F. Chάvez, 86, was called from this life on May 2, 2015. She was born in Mapimi, Durango, Mѐxico on April 19, 1929. She is survived by her two sisters – Herminia Flores and Efigenia Nuñez. Petra will be greatly missed by her children – Jose G. Chάvez, Margarita Hannaway, Paula Chάvez, Jose A. Chάvez, Martha Chάvez-Inzano and her husband Robert Inzano, Ernesto M. Chάvez, Lourdes C. Smith and her husband Franklin Smith. Grandchildren – Michael, Laura, Shayna, Meghan, Violeta, Alhelί, Cristίan, Isaac, Pantera, Ernesto, Guillermo, Di Marco, Lucas and Derek. Great-grandchildren – Jenna, Mia, Noela, Liliana, Shaun, Kiley, Eric, Sarah, Caribe, Alonzo, Savannah, Rain and Cataleya. She immigrated in her twenties and raised her children in El Paso and moved to Austin in 1999 where she enjoyed her last years. Petra was the matriarch of the family and was the “bestest” mother ever. She selflessly dedicated her life to her family, was a devout Catholic, loved nature and flowers, an avid BINGO and loteria player with a keen sense of humor whose constant smile and joyful spirit endeared her to everyone who knew her. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm Monday, May 11, 2015 at Crestview Funeral Home with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 pm. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church on 3021 Frutas and will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery on 4301 Alameda.
