Pete O. Mena, 55, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020. He was a lifelong El Paso resident who cherished his city, its people, and its culture. He graduated from Burges High School in 1982 and UTEP in 2013. All who knew him, knew he loved to surround himself with his friends and family, enjoy his food and drink while cheering on his favorite team-the Oakland Raiders. As an avid sports fan, he could always be counted on to support and encourage high school, local, college, football, and basketball teams. He loved participating in local community events, loved the music scene, and enjoyed outdoor activities.
His family is comforted by the fact that he is now reunited with his beloved parents and little brother in Heaven. We will miss his quiet, thoughtful ways and will always remember the strength and courage with which he lived his life. His laughter, smile, and love will live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew him. He left a final act of selflessness by donating parts of him so other lives could be enriched.
He was preceded in death by this parents, Pedro and Josefina, and younger brother, David. He is survived by his sisters Leti (Anthony) and Cyndi, brother Eddie, aunts Julieta Ponce and Emma Dalrymple, nephews David, Steven, Scott and Zeke as well as nieces Ana and Erika, fiancée Evelia Morales, daughter Melissa, several close cousins, and his devoted pet, Ranger. Pallbearers will be Eddie Mena, David Mena, Anthony Duran, Steven Evans, Efren Fernandez, and Zeke Reyes. Visitation will be held on January 19, 2020 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina. Funeral mass will be on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 11:00am at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
