E. Pearl Harris, 99 years, made her transition from this earthly life on June 15, 2015. Her quiet dignity, unending kindness, & quirky humor will be missed by all who knew & loved her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Julius Harris. Julius was a World War II veteran who served in the Signal Corp. After the war he served with distinction as a photographer at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. Pearl was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers & one sister. She leaves to mourn her memories many family members of nieces, nephews & cousins including her many friends that loved her. Those she leaves behind know of her generosity & always thinking of others & placing their needs above her own. Pearl was steadfast in her faith, being a long time member of both the Immanuel Baptist Church & the First Baptist Church of El Paso. She walked each day with courage & had strength for each step because of the comfort she found in prayer from God’s loving & tender care. Pearl lived the perfect example of loving & trusting her Lord & savior no matter what hardships are thrust upon one’s life on the earth. That blueprint is the enduring memorial she leaves for her family & friends. Pearl was a long time resident of El Paso, coming here in 1942 during World War II. She was a talented artist who painted many southwestern landscape & floral scenes. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of family & her pets & prided herself as a homemaker & friend to many. Late in life she researched & completed a Family Genealogy book for her family. She lived a full life as a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt & friend to many. She was fiercely independent living on her own since the passing of Julius in 1972. This independence persisted until the last few months of her life. The family expresses special appreciation to Dr. Branch Craige & Staff, Good Samaritan Society-White Acres Rehabilitation Center, The Foster Home of Loving Care by Linda Cozby, & especially Jerry & Helen Inman of El Paso.Your unselfish & loving care of Pearl during the last days on this earth comforted not only Pearl, but her family & friends. You were God’s hand’s & feet providing love & solace. Visitation will be held at 12pm at First Baptist Church, El Paso, on Friday, June 19, 2015 in the Ford Chapel, with Funeral service at 1pm. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Julius. In lieu of Flowers the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation of First Baptist Church of El Paso, 805 Montana Street, El Paso, Texas 79902.
