Preceded in death by his parents, Harry Earl Brandt and Lloyd Roslyn Brandenburg Brandt.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Fran Brandt, sons Cal Brandt (wife Derryl) and David Brandt (wife Tracy). Grandchildren Travis Brandt and Kristen Brandt. Brother Stephen Brandt (wife Peggy).
In 1948, Richie’s family moved to Austin, Texas, where he attended Austin High School and the University of Texas at Austin where he was on the gymnastics team. In 1955, he was drafted into the Navy and served two years at sea. In 1956, he and Fran married in Austin, Texas and in 1958, began his career in selling real estate and building homes and duplexes. In 1963, Richie and Fran moved to El Paso, Texas where he became partners with Elmer Cullers. They formed Brandt Cullers Homes, a successful partnership that built homes, duplexes, apartments and developed land. In 1981, Brandt Homes, Inc. was established by Richie and his son Cal. His son David later joined the company after graduating from college.
He was President of the El Paso Home Builders Association from 1976 to 1977. In 1981, he was honored and named Builder Citizen of the Year. He also served on the Board of American Bank of Commerce for many years.
Richie was an active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church from 1963 to 2017. After moving to the upper valley, he was a member of Western Hills United Methodist Church from 2017 until his death.
He loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, traveling and reading.
A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery for immediate family. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to MD Anderson or a favorite charity.
