Patricia Rodgers passed away at the age of 92 on January 5, 2015 in El Paso, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Rodgers Christopher, of El Paso, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, John Rodgers and Laurie Tempkin, of Martinez, California; her brother, Frank Reid, of El Paso, Texas; and her niece, Susan Plantz, of Nashville, Tennessee. Patricia was born November 27, 1922 in El Paso to Louis Reid and Alice Sheppard Reid. After graduating from Ysleta High School in 1940, Patricia worked at the local telephone company and attended classes at the Texas College of Mines. In 1943 she met and married Navy Lt. Pollard (Bill) Rodgers, joining him whenever possible between his tours of duty during WWII. Their marriage would last for 66 years until his death in 2009. Patricia eventually got her BA in History, graduating in 1948. She was a stay-at-home mom while Bill worked as a civil engineer until Barbara and John started school. She then went back to college, earned a degree in Elementary Education and went on to teach third grade for 20 years at Travis Elementary in El Paso ISD. After retiring in 1980, she became active in local clubs and was past president of three of them: the local Woman's Club, the Assistance League, and the Tri Delta Sorority Alumnae. She was also a member of PEO (chapter GL) and the local women's auxiliary of the APO, her husband's engineering fraternity. The family would like to thank Patricia's caregiver, Ashley Beauregard, for her tender, nurturing care during Patricia's last two years. The family will hold a private graveside service at a future time.
