Pamela Rae Stiles was born in Minneapolis Minnesota on May 15, 1949, to Ray & Dolores Stiles. Pam graduated from Richfield High School in 1967. From there she attended the University of Minnesota where she was part of the inaugural Doctor of Pharmacy class. She graduated in June of 1973 and was a proud Golden Gopher all her life. While in Minnesota she worked at Abbott Northwestern Hospital & Methodist Hospital. In 1988 she moved from Minnesota to El Paso, Texas. She may not have been born here but she was a true Texan. On September 30th, 1988, she married John Brummal. She worked at Sun Towers Hospital & Sun Towers Behavioral Health Center. She and John lived in New Orleans from 1991 to 1992 where she worked at East Jefferson General Hospital. While there she found a lasting love of Cajun food & Louisiana culture. Once back in El Paso she worked for Las Palmas Medical Center, NCED Mental Health Center and Mesilla Valley Hospital. She retired in 2014 giving her time to enjoy her hobbies.
She was an avid needle pointer, serving as the President of the New Mexico chapter of the American Needlepointing Guild before they disbanded. During Clinton’s Presidency she was asked needlepoint an ornament for one of the White House Christmas Trees. The nutcracker she crafted is now part of the Smithsonian collection. She always looked forward to meeting with the Red Hot Stitchers.
She was a voracious reader, sometimes going through multiple books in a week. She adored her book club. She read so many books she had to keep a running list of all she read with a brief synopsis so she could remember them all.
During the warmer months she would spend as much time as possible with John at their cabin in Ruidoso, New Mexico. She loved to host happy hour on the deck for her Eagle Creek family. Many of her happiest days there were spent working puzzles, reading on the deck and drinking hot tea.
Time with family was important to her. Even though Chad & Courtney were not biologically her’s she loved them like they were. She adored her grandsons, Milo & Levi. Spoiling them was always high on her priority list. Friday evening happy hour with John, Courtney & Levi was always fun for everyone.
Other hobbies included classic cars. She had a cherry red 1970 XKE Jaguar, more commonly known as Jake, that was her pride and joy. She supported John and his love of classic cars. They were members of the Southwest Classic Car Club. She loved British TV shows, mostly the mysteries. Her hot tea collection was vast and varied. She waited all year for football season so she could cheer on her Golden Gophers, Texas Tech Red Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings & and the Kansas City Chiefs (mostly for Mahomes).
Pam is survived by her beloved husband, John; stepdaughter, Courtney Johnson (Kevin); Sisters Char Cadra (John) & Penny Stiles; Grandsons Milo Voss & Levi Johnson; and nephew Will Cadra. She was proceeded in death by her parents Ray & Dolores Stiles, and her stepson Chad Brummal. In addition to her family greeting her at the pearly gates we know she was met by her two dogs Buffy & Gracie.
She will be greatly missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing her.
