Oscar Oswaldo Gale, age 60, of El Paso, Texas passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022. Oscar was born June 30, 1962 in Honduras to Oscar Gale Varela and Doris Gale Marcia. Together they raised their children Oscar, Fresia, Juliette, Nuria, Ana and Michael of which Oscar was the second born. Oscar served proudly in the Army and eventually retired with many recognitions and awards. He had his son Carlos Javier Gale. Oscar married his wife Gwendolyn Shelley Gale in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 15, 2001. They were happily married for close to 21 years.
Oscar served honorably in the US ARMY from January 1990 to December of 2010. He served for over 20 years, stationed in various countries and eventually retired as a Sergeant First Class. He served 2 tours in Iraq and was also the recipient of a Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, 2 Meritorious Service Medals, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge and various other campaign and service awards.
Oscar resided in El Paso for almost 20 years. He was a God fearing man who enjoyed working out, was an avid reader, cared deeply for his family and friends, and who recently had taken up cooking.
Oscar is preceded in death by his Father Oscar Gale Varela and his mother-in-law Clytee Shelley.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his loving family including his wife Gwen Shelley Gale of El Paso, Texas, his mother Doris Gale Marcia from Louisiana, his son Carlos Javier Gale from North Carolina, his siblings Fresia Iscoa (Alex) from Honduras, Juliette Gale, Nuria Hernandez from Virginia, Ana Orellana (Vicente) from Louisiana, Michael Gale from Texas, nieces, nephews, his in-laws who cared deeply for him, his extended family and friends and his beloved dog Prinze.
Oscar will be remembered as an outstanding man, amazing son, husband, father, brother and uncle. He cared about others in the most genuine way by calling them often, sometimes daily, being generous and compassionate without asking anything in return. Oscarito, as he was known to those closest to him, was the rock of his family. What you saw in him was always what you got. He was a truly remarkable and fun loving man.
The Gale family will receive family and friends on Monday July 25, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home 1060 N. Carolina El Paso, TX 79915.
A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday July 26, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at the Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel followed by the Burial at Fort Bliss National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. There will also be the Repast Gathering on July 26, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Eastwood Church of Christ 10104 Album Avenue El Paso, TX 79925.
