Olga Margarita passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in El Paso after a long illness due to heart failure. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Ramirez. She is survived by her son Luis Rodolfo Rodriguez, a brother Francisco Ramirez, many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends that loved and admired her.
She was a nurse for over 40 years, serving in pediatrics, perianesthesia, critical areas, out -patient services and more. She travelled throughout the world representing the Business and Professional Women Organization to which she dedicated most of her time. She was the National President of the Mexican Federation and the first vice-president of Hispanic descent for the International Organization of Business and Professional Women. She also founded the local Chapter of Business and Professional Women Paso del Norte, where she served as a mentor for many years. Throughout her life she received many awards and recognitions some of which were: Distinguished Women by the International Soroptimist Club of Santa Fe, Orgullo Hispano from channel 26, YWCA Reach Award in 2001, Woman of the Year from BPW Paso del Norte, Who’s Who 2003 by Empowering Executives and Professionals, Francisco Espino Award by the Association of Latin American Journalists for her 25th anniversary in nursing and many more. She was also active in many organizations some of them are: American Nursing Association, World Health Organization, Hispanic Women Network of El Paso, Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, U.S.A. and at the International level. She was an incomparable loving friend, always caring and helpful, always gracious and kind to everyone. A remarkable woman who will be greatly missed.
