Ofelia “Ofie” Chavez Ledesma, 86, passed away on July 10, 2023. She was born on September 17, 1936, in Socorro, Texas. Devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and auntie. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Manuel and Delfina Chavez and her brother Louie Chavez.
Ofelia is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 64 years, Joe R. Ledesma, her children, Rosemary Ledesma-Sena (Joe), Joe Louis Ledesma, Barbara Ann Ledesma-Hebler (Gary) and by her beloved grandchildren Vincent Joseph Ramirez, Jonathan Diego Hebler, Isabella Simone Hebler. She is also survived by her brother Alfredo Chavez, and nephews Gilbert Chavez, Mike Chavez, Rey Chavez, and Louie Chavez.
Ofelia graduated from Ysleta High School and played the saxophone in the marching band. She played the piano beautifully as well and gave piano lessons. She was a devoted Catholic and an active parishioner at the La Purisima Catholic Church and at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Ofie dedicated 33 years of her career to the Social Security Administration.
Blessed Rosary will be held at 6:30 pm on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Martin Funeral Home East on 1460 George Dieter Drive, El Paso, TX. The visitation is from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home East. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 11:00 am at La Purisima Catholic Church on 328 South Nevarez, Socorro, TX. Graveside service will be at 1:00 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson, El Paso, TX.
