It is with great sadness that we announce our mother, Noemi Romero Flore, went to meet the Lord on July 8, 2021. She was surrounded by loved ones and was at peace after battling her disease for many years.
Noemi “Mimie” Romero Flore, 64, was born on December 16, 1956, and passed away peacefully on July 8, 2021, surrounded by her loving family in her daughter Danette’s home. Her family had the honor and privilege of providing her care during her final days. It is a tremendous loss for the family, and we take solace that she is no longer in pain and in the care of our Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents Maria de la Luz and Atanasio Gustavo Romero.
She was a lifelong resident of El Paso, graduated from Riverside High School in 1975, and attended EPCC.
Mimie loved to travel and enjoyed trips to New York, California, Austin, Dallas, and Las Vegas where she loved to play the slots. She also loved to garden and was especially proud of her colorful roses. She eventually redesigned her yard to give her grandchildren a vibrant place to visit and play. Her joy was her family, and she loved to celebrate special occasions with them in her home.
Mimie worked for Furr’s Supermarkets for 14 years followed by New Deal Furniture for over 20 years where she retired at the early age of 62.
Mimie is survived by her husband of 21 years, James G. Flore along with her sons Daniel Acevedo (spouse Denise Loya) and Dante Acevedo, daughter Danette Castillo, granddaughters Alysa Acevedo and Alexis Castillo, and grandson Andrew Acevedo, her brothers Gustavo Romero (spouse Florence Romero), Angel Romero and Luis Romero, and sister Irene Segura (spouse Victor Segura). She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, grandniece, grandnephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was especially proud of her children and their many accomplishments in life.
She was known as ‘Nana’ to many and to everyone as a strong, independent woman with a heart of gold who was always there for friends and family alike. She will be greatly missed and will live on in our hearts as we continue to make her proud by following her example of strength, kindness, and service.
The family would like to thank all those who prayed for her and were always there in mind, body, and spirit. We would like to extend a special note of thanks to:
