Nancy Duncan Jenkins, age 95, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on February 4, 2022, in El Paso. She was born November 29, 1926, in El Paso, and was a native of Ysleta, the daughter of William Thomas Duncan and Vera Ann Duncan (Martin). She attended Ysleta Elementary and High Schools, and the College of Mines, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
She and Samuel Leroy Jenkins were married in Ysleta, Texas on August 30, 1947, and moved to College Station, Texas, where Samuel completed his education. Upon their return to El Paso, she and Samuel settled in the Rosedale area of the Lower Valley, and together raised three children in a wonderful neighborhood. Later, she worked as a substitute teacher in the Ysleta School District. She was a longtime member of Vista-Ysleta United Methodist Church, a member of the Ysleta Women’s Club, and a member of Chapter D, PEO.
She was preceded in death by her beloved Samuel, her brother William Martin Duncan and wife Gladys (Pepper), sisters Elizabeth Anne McNutt (Duncan) and husband Jack S. McNutt, and Martha Jane Squires (Duncan) and husband Bill B. Squires, nieces Sarah Ann (Sally) Jones (Duncan) and Elizabeth Lee (Betty) Matthews (Duncan), and nephew William Thomas (Tommy) McNutt.
Her survivors include daughters Jane Anne Sellars (Jenkins) and husband John Sellars of Frisco, Texas, Nancy Leigh Jenkins of Silver City, NM, son Jeffrey Samuel Jenkins of El Paso, grandchildren Paul Thomas Truitt, Rebecca Jane Truitt, Erin Elizabeth Sellars, Evelyn Renee Jenkins, and Jacob Samuel Jenkins, nieces Bonnie Lee Gilmore (Squires), Rebecca Winifred Allen (Squires), Molly Anne Jameson (McNutt), and nephew John Duncan McNutt and wife Kathryn Kaye (K. K.) McNutt (Madsen). Services to be held:
Visitation Thursday, March 3, 4:00-7:00 p.m., at Funeraria del Angel Restlawn, 8817 Dyer St; Funeral, Friday, March 4, 9:00 a.m.; Burial to follow, 10:30 a.m., at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vista Ysleta United Methodist Church, 11860 Rojas Dr., El Paso, TX 79936.
