Michael Chavez

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our brother, Michael (Winky) Chavez. Michael passed away unexpectedly on August 16, 2023, in Carlsbad NM. He was born December 27, 1961, to Reymundo (Bibi) Chavez and Clara Corona Chavez who preceded him in death. Michael has taken the hand of Jesus and is now joined with our parents and sister Margie in heaven.

Michael was a long-haul truck driver for many years. His ultimate joy was bringing a smile to others. He would light up a room with his infectious laughter and always looked to help in any way he could. This was often in landscaping. He would show his love to others by maintaining the yards of his family, neighbors, and the neighborhood church.

Michael is survived by his two sons, Mykel Rob (Taylor) Chavez and Ryan (Erika) Chavez. His two sisters, Rachel (Gigi) Chavez (Carl Jay) and Terry (Armando Aguilar), his two brothers, Bb Jr. (Vicky) Chavez of Kingwood, TX, and Richard (Ishbel) Chavez, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who loved him very much.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday. September 14 th at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar Rd, El Paso, TX. 79925. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
