Mary A. Velasquez

Mary A. (Montelongo) Velasquez went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on October 28, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 72. She was born in Juarez, Mexico on October 2, 1948 to Antonio and Maria Luisa Montelongo. She married Henry Velasquez on August 8, 1970, and they had an opportunity to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Mary immigrated to El Paso, Texas at a young age. She attended Ysleta Elementary and later the family moved to Stockton, California where she attended Marshal Jr. High and graduated from Edison High School in 1967. She attended Delta College and earned an Associate Degree and later a Certificate as a word processing specialist from El Paso Community College.
Mary worked for 32 years as a substitute teacher in the Ysleta and Socorro School Districts. She also devoted many hours serving in different capacities in the churches she attended, including Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School, Royal Ranger activities, youth leader, choir director, and marriage ministries. She was a faithful member and volunteer of Abundant Living Faith Center. Her life of service will have an everlasting impact.
Mary is survived by her husband Henry, two sons, Danny and Eliseo, two daughters-in-law, Virginia and Angela and four grandchildren, Sarah, Jeremiah, Gianna, and Christian. All of whom she loved deeply.
