Mary Elizabeth”Liz” Hibbard passed away peacefully on October 19, 2013. She was born on November 15, 1927 in Mansfield, Massachusetts to George and Ruth Flint. Liz was raised on the family dairy farm and attended primary school in a typical one room school house, she went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree from University of Massachusetts in 1949 and completed her Masters in Nutrition. She met, Dr. Emerson W. Hibbard, at the University of Massachusetts to whom she has been married for 65 years. They traveled together to many countries in Europe, Russia, Asia and across North America. They lived in Boston, Maine, Ohio, New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania and finally settled in Glens Falls, New York where her husband was Dean of Adirondack Community College. Elizabeth had two children a son, Steven B. Hibbard who lives in Melbourne, Australia with his wife Margaret and their children George, Alice and Ted. A daughter, Shirley B. Rosales, who lives in El Paso, Texas with her husband Joe A. Rosales, Jr. and their children Natalie, Stephanie and Emilie. Liz was a kind and gentle person who had a tender heart and ear for anyone who needed her. She loved to cook, to tend to her flowers and vegetables in her garden. She was involved with many philanthropic groups including: AAUW, PEO, Meals on Wheels, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls. She also helped to manage the family apartments in New York. One of the greatest joys of her life was to see and visit her six grandchildren in El Paso, Texas and Melbourne, Australia. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ben Flint, sister Martha Flint. She is survived by her husband, her children and their families, her sisters in law Saisie Pratt and Marjorie Flint, her nieces Susan and Nancy Hibbard, Ginny Street (Bill), Don Flint, Nancy Flint, and nephews Crawford Pratt (Debbie), Alden Pratt (Hanadi), and five great nieces and great nephews. The family would like to warmly thank Envision Hospice and Liz’s caregivers Angelica, Flor, Silvia, Lucy and Mary for their tender loving care. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her memory to The Alzheimer’s Association, 4687 N. Mesa St El Paso, Texas. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 9:30 am St. Andrew First Presbyterian Church, 2155 Wedgewood Dr. Graveside service and interment will be held in Mansfield, Massachusetts at a later date.
