Martha Lydia Rojas, age 71, of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by the love of her children—Frank Javier Rojas Jr (Rose †), Lydia Rojas, Cynthia (Gabriel) Sierra—and her former spouse and father of her children, Francisco Javier Rojas.
To know Martha was to know a woman whose world revolved entirely around her family. She was the very heart of her home, an adoring and nurturing mother whose maternal spirit extended far beyond her immediate family. Her warmth, generosity, and ability to make anyone feel cared for became a signature trait that endeared her to friends, neighbors, and her community alike.
Martha's deep sense of compassion inspired her lifelong commitment to service. Her faith was the foundation of everything she did. She was an active and devoted member of the Catholic Church, dedicating countless hours as a Eucharistic minister, participating in ACTS retreats, and volunteering wherever she was needed. Her kindness was quiet yet powerful, and she offered it freely to anyone in need.
Known as the life of the party, Martha had an infectious love for music, dancing, and tequila, which brought joy and laughter to every gathering. Her energy lit up any room, and the joy she carried left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Martha was also a passionate advocate for education. She encouraged not only her children and grandchildren but anyone who came to her for advice to pursue learning with determination and purpose. She believed education could change lives—and she lived that belief through action.
Even in the face of her own health challenges, Martha continued to give. She participated in Alzheimer’s research, driven by hope and a deep desire to help others facing the disease. Her courage and selflessness in that journey are a testament to her enduring spirit and her love for future generations.
She will be remembered for her grace, her strength, her wisdom—and yes, her unforgettable dance moves.
Martha is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Cruz and Bertha Villegas. She is survived by her former spouse, her children, and her cherished grandchildren: Frank Javier Rojas III, Samantha Victoria Rojas, Zachary (Lauren) Rojas, Matthew Jonathan Rojas, Gabrielle Danielle Sierra, and Rico Rojas; as well as her great-grandchildren, Zachary Michael Rojas and Lilah Rose Rojas.
Martha’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to love and be loved by her. Her love was our blessing, her legacy our guide.
