Marsha was born Nov. 25, 1963 at the Army Hospital in Würzburg, Germany to Elizabeth and David Duncan. She was born into a military family and moved with her parents and brother, Charles Duncan, to the U.S. and grew up in El Paso. Marsha lived in Northeast and attended Irvin High where she met her high school sweetheart, David Lee Messick. They wed at the local Moose Lodge on July 14, 1984 and had a daughter, Michelle Lee Messick, two years later.
In her early 20s, Marsha completed her nursing assistant certification and worked in various facilities throughout El Paso. Later she became a well-known bartender. Marsha had many journeys in life and lived out her days happily with her long-time boyfriend, Jerry Minnick, and their three dogs in Chaparral, New Mexico.
She was known as a lifelong caregiver to family and friends.
Marsha is survived by her mother, Elizabeth K. Duncan; her only child, Michelle Messick; her brother, Charles Duncan and his wife Mary Duncan and their children, Charles Jr. and David Duncan; her sister, Elizabeth and her husband Peter Vogel and their children, Alexandra Vogel, Bianca and Dieter Seufzer and their son Maximillian; her brother, Edwin Romprey and his sons Shawn and Eddie Romprey; her ex-husband, David Messick and his mother Frances “Beth” Messick; and her boyfriend, Jerry Minnick.
She is preceded in death by her father David Edwin Duncan and sister-in-law Wanda Romprey.
A celebration of her life was held July 2 at Funeraria del Angel Kaster-Maxon & Futrell.
