Marilyn passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She is a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Marilyn was born in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts to Antony and Angie Coelho. She graduated from West Bridgewater Teachers College. After starting a teaching career, she married Jerome O. Gross on August 23, 1952. With his Army career she lived in Anchorage, Alaska and then, El Paso. Marilyn was a teacher, principal and consultant for the El Paso Independent School District for 40 years. She loved teaching and brought out the best in all her students. She is remembered for always having a solution for any classroom problem. She loved sewing, painting, books, her cat, and spoiling her grandchildren. In retirement, she loved ballroom dancing and went on to participate in many competitions. She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry and daughter-in-law, Emily. She is survived by her children: Mike, Debi (Jim), Brian (Jodie), and Angela (Harry); grandchildren Jerrad (Linsey), Bailey, Sierra and Carlos; great granddaughters Ryley, Avery and Dakota, and her partner Richard Fields. As per her request she has donated her body to Texas Tech Medical School. To honor Marilyn, make contributions to the El Paso Humane Society. The family would like to thank the Regency for their years of her care, Desert Springs for her care the last few months and the doctors and nurses at Hospitals at Providence, Trans Mountain Campus for her treatment and for taking care of us. A Memorial Service will take place on April 17th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5054 Doniphan Drive El Paso, TX 79932.
