Maria Guadalupe Martinez was a long-time resident of El Paso, Texas. She was born on November 03, 1932, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to parents Ignacia Morales and Jose Dolores Martinez. She was called home by our Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Guadalupe was a very thoughtful and selfless woman, who dedicated her time to all her family. She was a devout Catholic and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe church. She raised her children and grandchildren to always have strength & trust in the word of the Lord. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, sister, and aunt, who loved everyone deeply, with no boundaries or limits.
Guadalupe always welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and always offered her warm home cooked meals. She always had a way of making you feel loved with her kind words of support and encouragement. Her sense of humor was one in a million and she always had our family laughing. She gave all of herself unconditionally and like her, there is no other.
Guadalupe worked as head cook at the University of Texas at El Paso for over 25 years, where she worked hard to provide for her family. After her retirement, she enjoyed exercising and caring for her great grandchildren. She went on to volunteer as a teacher’s aide at John Uxer Head Start.
She was preceded in death by her parents (Jose Dolores and Ignacia Martinez), her brothers (Crispin, Francisco, Arnulfo, Moises, Bernardino) and sisters, (Domitila, Leonor, Petra, Juana, Saturnina), her eldest son (Mario Perez), and her grandson (Jose Luis Perez).
She is survived by her son (Ramon Perez), 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, her sister (Isidora), and several nieces and nephews, who all loved her dearly.
She will be greatly missed and has left our family with a rich legacy of kindness and love towards others. We will always love and miss her. We will keep her in our thoughts, hearts and prayers forever.
