It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Maria del Carmen Ito, 87, who passed away Thursday, October 17.
Maria del Carmen (Carmen) was born in Ciudad Juarez. She was married to Cruz Ito for 64 years.
She was a devout Catholic.
Carmen had many interests and talents. She enjoyed traveling, drawing, painting, sewing, and helping her grandchildren with their school projects. Most of all, she was a dedicated mother raising her four children and her niece and nephew, Nuria and Luis Enrique. She was also very proud of her volunteer work as the coordinator for the St. Matthew’s Drive-A-Meal program for many years.
Carmen is preceded in passing by her parents Luis Fernandez and Enriqueta Najera, brother Luis Enrique, and sister Maria Irene. Carmen is survived by her husband Cruz, sister Maria Enriqueta Fernandez Mora, children Luis and spouse Norma, Cecilia, Victor, Larisa, and spouse Bill. Carmen was blessed with ten grandchildren who affectionately called her Nana; Luis Manuel, Mariel, Margo, Alina, Sydney, Adin, Alisa, Stephen, Caroline, and Dulce.
Visitation Monday, November 4, from 5pm – 9pm at Martin Funeral Home, 128 North Resler. Rosary at 6pm. Funeral mass Tuesday, November 5, at 11:30 AM, Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 400 West Sunset Road. Burial following mass, 1:00 pm, Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson.
