On January 5, 2024, Maria Del Socorro Tovar peacefully passed away after a short illness. Socorro was a devoted wife and was ready to join her husband of 68 years, only after two short months her Kiko passed away.
Socorro is survived by her 5 children; Fernando (Alison), Maria (Robert), Albert (Georgina), Lili (Jose) and Melissa. 7 Grandchildren; Jennifer (Dwane), Stephanie (Jaime), Jose III, Jacob (Diana), Jeremy (Ashley), Alexandria and Daniella. 5 Great Grandchildren; Devin, Jasmine, Damion-James, Santana, and Chesney. Along with her sister Juana (Bernardo) Gurrola and several nieces and nephews.
Socorro was predeceased by parents Natividad Martinez and Maria Del Socorro Ramirez.
Socorro was a proud Mother, Grandmother, and a good friend. She was referred to as Socoloco and Grandma Texas. She was a gentle lady who would spoil her kids no matter how old they are and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her famous sayings were "It's okay", "More better", and "no funny", and if her words didn't say it the stare she would give you definitely would. Socorro was a strong positive woman who would always keep everyone going. She was always the fixer of the family. She was a helper with her mere presence and her handy sewing work and her cooking.
She will be dearly missed by all her loved ones but we are all at peace knowing they are back together again, her crying out for grandpa and keeping him straight. We will miss her strong will and her giving us the peace sign as we are walking out the door. And as she always said, "Tenemos que seguir le a la vida."
Socorro's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Cimarron Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their 5+ Years of care.
